Job Summary

The Lifeguard/EMT provides medical expertise for staff and patron safety, incident response, and first‑aid in coordination with lifeguards and other aquatics safety personnel during park operations.

Essential Functions
  • Respond to and assist with emergencies, providing emergency medical and first‑aid assistance to patrons daily.
  • Proactively monitor patrons and staff for signs of distress and respond accordingly, remaining calm and administering basic medical attention.
  • Draft and complete reports and documentation daily related to incidents where medical assistance is given to ensure transparency.
  • Assist with and participate in lifeguard in‑service weekly, giving feedback, support, and information.
  • Maintain inventory daily of first‑aid supplies and test AED and oxygen equipment.
  • Provide lifeguarding activities when needed.
  • Perform any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of lifeguarding and basic EMT procedures.
  • Knowledge of first aid, standards of care, maintaining needed equipment, and adequate supplies.
  • Knowledge of water‑park rules for operation.
  • Knowledge of swimming‑pool maintenance and chemistry.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and train lifeguarding and safety personnel.
  • Ability to identify distressed persons.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations quickly and effectively.
  • Physical ability to swim, run, walk, stand, and perform a wide range of activities.
  • Ability to provide customer service and ensure patron safety for a large number of patrons at a large aquatics facility.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Experience

1 year of experience as a lifeguard working with a large number of safety personnel in an aquatic facility.

Licenses and Certifications

EMT Basic Certification, Lifeguarding.

Education

High School Diploma, GED.

Salary Range

$21.04 - $22.67 per hour. The salary listed is the starting range; the amount offered will depend on qualifications.
