Part-Time Transport Driver (Morning or Afternoon Shift)

Job Summary

Spay Neuter Network is seeking reliable, customer-focused Part-Time Transport Drivers to support our animal transport program. We hire one driver for the morning transport route and one driver for the afternoon transport route. This position is responsible for safely transporting animals and paperwork between transport locations and clinics while providing excellent customer service to clients and transport partners.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, dependable, organized, and able to work independently while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor. Spanish-speaking candidates are encouraged to apply but are not required.

Applicants must be at least 25 years of age.

Schedule
  • Part-time position.
  • Morning Driver:
    Scheduled morning transport route.
  • Afternoon Driver:
    Scheduled afternoon/evening transport route.
  • Hours vary based on assigned route and clinic needs.
  • Occasional flexibility may be required to assist with route coverage.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and maintain established transport schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and professional.
  • Experience working with animals preferred but not required.
  • Must be comfortable traveling throughout diverse communities and working in a variety of environments and locations throughout the service area.
  • Must demonstrate adaptability, situational awareness, sound judgment, and professionalism while representing Spay Neuter Network in all communities and circumstances.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and customer-focused when faced with changing conditions, unexpected challenges, or difficult situations.
Client Education & Communication
  • Ability to learn basic veterinary concepts, including vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks.
  • Ability to communicate basic veterinary information provided by veterinarians and clinic staff.
  • Ability to relay information provided by veterinarians and clinic staff accurately to pet owners and transport partners.
  • Ability to interact with clients and the public in a professional, courteous manner.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Drive assigned transport routes safely and efficiently while maintaining scheduled arrival and departure times.
  • Coordinate and supervise the loading and unloading of animals from transport vehicles.
  • Ensure animals are properly secured during transport.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for clients during drop-off and pick-up.
  • Ensure all required paperwork and medical records accompany patients during intake and return transport.
  • Relay approved medical and discharge information to transport partners and pet owners as needed.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance checks of transport vehicles.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, organization, and readiness for scheduled routes.
  • Operate safely and professionally in a variety of environments, including urban, suburban, and rural communities throughout the transport service area.
  • Adapt to changing conditions, traffic patterns, weather, client interactions, community settings, and transportation challenges while maintaining safety, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
  • Exercise good judgment and maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure the safety of animals, clients, coworkers, company vehicles, and company property.
  • Maintain the positive reputation of Spay Neuter Network by communicating and acting in a reliable, friendly, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, driving policies, and animal handling procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout a shift with assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, kneel, stoop, and reach.
  • Ability to safely handle animal carriers and transport equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions while loading and unloading animals.
  • Ability to see fine detail in a variety of situations.
