Key concepts of school
Dalton X is a new school launching in 2027, featuring socially-connected experiences for high school students. This new school’s goal is to nurture students through real-world experiences, staying in four cities for 2-3 months each in Grade 11 to be engaged in socially-connected projects working with local professionals. The learning hub locations are both international and in Japan, including Estonia, India, UK, Malaysia, Vietnam etc.
as well as domestic cities such as Tokyo, Okinawa, Tokushima, and Iwate. Research topics in each city are so various ranging from scientific research with university professors, social issues, journalism, revamping rural areas, to art and creative projects.
Curriculum
Its curriculum is centered in "glocal" experiences by immersing the students in practical and real-world projects in each local cities and by providing global experiences both in subject-based learning and project-based-learning. We offer A-Level program to high school students in Grade 11 and 12. We also have an existing sister school in Tokyo which is called Dalton Tokyo Junior and Senior High School.
Dalton X has the same key features as Dalton Tokyo, featuring laboratory, assignment and house.
Students growth via our curriculum
As we analyzed the students' growth in Dalton Tokyo, we found causal relationship among intrinsic motication for challenging experiences, non-cognitive capabilities growth and test score growth in subjects like math. In this analysis, we specified that growth mindset and global citizenship are siginificant components of students' growth in leadership, resilience, self-efficacy and collaboration. These non-cognitive competencies generate strong motivation for subject learning.
Career opportunity
As a career step, educators will have opportunities to create innovative class and programs to nurture students' competency, knowledge and practical skills both in classroom and in real world. We are exploring quite unique and innovative ways of learning, therefore the educators in this school will have expertise in innovative areas such as AI based education, project-based-learning, flip learning, leadership education, and emotional intelligence.
Roles
In 2026 that is prep year for launching new school, the educators design whole school blueprint including curriculum in subject-larning, cross- subject programs, extracurriculler activities and project-based-learning. Also, they will design the daily life of students who stay in boarding facilities and have lots of events in each city. The educators will communicate with many local professionals and design the curriculum to maximize the opportunity for students to grow within three years.
In 2027, we will implement the designed curriculum and continue to improve over years.
