Part-Time Parent Involvement Coordinator - Park Creek

Responsibilities:

  • Assists school personnel in understanding parent component guidelines for Title I
  • Contributes parent education suggestions to school personnel preparing Title I Plans
  • Prepares routine reports and correspondence relative to parent education
  • Attends appropriate program meetings and trainings
  • Works with parents to ensure smooth transitions into the school per Title I guidelines
  • Encourages parent involvement in education activities
  • Provides referrals to the counselor or principal for community-based services for families dealing with conditions that impact the academic achievement of their students
  • Educates teachers and staff on how to communicate and work effectively with parents as equal partners in ensuring the academic achievement of their students
  • Communicates with parents through newsletters, phone calls, newspaper notifications, web pages, social media, and home visits regarding meetings, trainings, and ways to be a part of their child’s education
  • Promotes sharing of power with parents as decision-makers; helps parents understand the educational system so they can become better advocates for their children’s education
  • Provides technical assistance to parents in learning computer skills, which will assist them in helping their children with academic achievement (ie. locating and utilizing the student portal, finding and utilizing websites that will help students educationally)
  • Ensures that Title I, Part A parent involvement regulations are met with meaningful and strategic actions to build parent capacity
  • Schedules parent conferences and meetings at the school as requested with a focus on student achievement
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings such as parent education sessions or staff development on working with parents
  • Makes suggestions to schools on development and maintenance of parent education resource centers
  • Communicates regularly with program director and principals
  • Maintains accurate record of parent education activities and participation
  • Appraises the effectiveness of parent education initiatives for annual program evaluations
  • Ensures all Title I parent involvement guidelines are met
  • Performs other Title I duties as directed by the supervisor
  • Qualifications:

    1. A minimum of a high school degree

    2.Effective communication skills

    3. Bilingual English/Spanish required

    4. Written language skills in English/Spanish

    5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find acceptable

    Work Calendar:

    186 Days, up to 19 hours per week
