As a first-level manager, the Manager Safety will manage and execute organizational safety programs to prevent injuries and health conditions and comply with applicable regulatory requirements. This role collaborates with various departments to promote a safe and healthy work environment and minimize workplace hazards while fostering a culture of safety.
What We NeedThe Manager Safety is a first-level manager that will manage and execute on organizational safety programs to prevent injuries and work-related health conditions and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Do- Analyze and classify risks and losses and measure financial impact upon the company.
- Design and direct programs to reduce accidents, occupational illness, and exposure to long term health hazards.
- Train employees and management in safety practices.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to determine causes and preventive measures.
- Review plans and specifications for construction or purchase of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.
- Conduct safety audits, record, and rate severity level, and assign responsibility for corrective actions.
- Coach site-specific leadership team on the expectations, tools, and implementation of the Safety Management System.
- Track and monitor SMS level specific KPI’s.
- Create and continually improve SMS specific training such as Supervisor Hazard identification/Mitigation and Supervisor Safety Communication Skills, Roles, and Responsibilities.
- Ensure the integrity of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 6-8 years’ relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 1-3 years of management experience.
- Safety training and certificates preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.
- Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.
- Focused on and responsible for their team's productivity and collective impact.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once.
- High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
- Occasional travel is required.
- This role may work in classrooms, offices, and high-traffic production floors.
- This role will be responsible for direct reports.
