Shot Lab Assistant Allergy and Asthma Dalton Galen Medical Group offers several medical specialties throughout the Chattanooga region. We provide quality care and patient-friendly services to adults and children of all ages. This position is in our Dalton, GA Allergy office. Rotating Mon/Tues with Wed/Thur every week 8AM - 4:30
PMSummary/Objective:
Participates in the activities of the Shot Lab as directed by the physicians.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
Identifies patients in Shot Lab module of PCIS.Locates appropriate vials.
Confirms patient identity, using full name and date of birth as identifiers.
Determines timeliness of patient visit and calculates appropriate dose.
Obtains peak flow, if applicable.
Records patients answers to the health questions, prior to administering.
Administers allergen/venom injection(s).Administers biologic medication(s).Advises patient to wait 20 minutes.
Records information on flow sheet and in Shot Lab module.
Calculates/adjusts doses for modified rush.
Administers/records modified rush.
Obtains vital signs related to modified rush.
Recognizes systemic symptoms and manages systemic reactions appropriately.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Educates patients about all aspects of care and treatment.
Cleans and stocks Shot Lab.
Distributes medication samples, as appropriate.
Ensures that biohazard waste is packaged and retrieved appropriately.
Assist the Clinical Support team as needed for patient care.
Other duties as assigned.

Maintain confidentiality of all patient, medical, financial, and legal information.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Wear identification during work hours.
Represent the organization in a positive & professional manner.
Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.
Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
Comply with all organization policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Attend regular staff meetings and in-services as directed by your manager.
Consistently demonstrate the value of team concept.
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities.
Complete assignments efficiently and in a timely manner.
Understands and abides by OSHA, HIPAA & CLIA standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current driver's license.
