Career Progression:
Depending on your food service experience, you may start at any food service worker level outlined below. DJJ offers a food service career progression plan that provides promotion with a pay raise as described below.

• Food Service Worker 2 – $30,000/year (promotion to Food Service Worker 3 and pay raise after 12 months in this position with DJJ)
• Food Service Worker 3 – $31,500/year

Under direct supervision, learns to prepare, heat and finish cooking food items and serve customers. Learns how to receive and disburse money in a food service establishment. Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.

• Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
• Cleans, peels, slices, and trims foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances.
• Conducts or assists with food supply requisitions and sanitation and maintenance inspections.
• Receives payment for food items.
• Replenishes supplies of food, condiments, and equipment at steam tables and service bars.
• Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
• Unpacks and stores supplies, raw and prepared food products.

An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed.
