! Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education.
The division has manufacturing sites in three locations:
Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors. Each of our sites has its own strong reputation in the market and between them cover a wider geographical area, including Europe. They continue to set the bar high in their highly complex market!
This is a Night shift position, working hours are:
Monday to Thursday 7:10pm - 6:40am
In the Logistics Operative – Trainee Driver position, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers and materials across the Dalton site. You will support the loading team to ensure deliveries are met and bottlenecks are avoided, contributing to the smooth running of daily operations.
Full training will be provided to the successful applicant, including shunter, side loader, and counterbalance forklift truck operations.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Shunting trailers to and from the gantry for loading
- Strapping and securing loads for safe movement around site
- Assisting with trailer loading
- Moving finished goods from the production line to storage using a side loader truck
- Transporting materials around site using a counterbalance forklift truck
- Maintaining accurate records of all trailer and material movements
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience operating shunter, side loader, or forklift trucks is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided
- Confident using an iPad for record-keeping and communication
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Reliable, organised, and eager to learn
