Activity Bus Driver
Job Purpose:
The Activity Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students and staff on activity-related trips—including athletic events and field trips—following designated routes and schedules. This position ensures the safety and well-being of all passengers while operating the vehicle in compliance with district policies and state regulations. Activity trips may require afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend hours.
Reports to:
Director of Transportation
Key Responsibilities:
Safely transport students and staff on school-sponsored activity trips such as athletic events and field trips.Maintain student discipline and ensure order on the bus in accordance with district policies.Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operability.Report mechanical issues or needed repairs promptly to the Transportation Department.Refuel and service the bus as needed, including checking oil, tires, and battery.Conduct required safety drills and complete any associated documentation.Serve as a substitute driver on home-to-school routes as needed, adhering to designated pick-up and drop-off schedules.Keep the interior and exterior of the bus clean and well-maintained.Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.Training and Education:
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GEDCandidates must have or be able to obtain a CDL Class B license with passenger and school bus endorsement. Dalton Public Schools will provide trainingWork Calendar:
