We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and customer-focused professional to serve as our Automotive Workshop Supervisor
. The successful candidate will oversee daily workshop operations, ensure safe and efficient vehicle repairs and maintenance, lead a team of technicians and service staff, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands‑on leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and compliance with manufacturer and workplace safety standards.
- Supervise daily workshop activities including vehicle repair, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and quality checks to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and to manufacturer specifications.
- Lead, coach, and develop technicians, apprentices, and service attendants; establish clear performance expectations, deliver regular feedback, and promote skill development through formal and on‑the‑job training.
- Assign work, balance technician workloads, and manage job scheduling to optimize bay utilization, minimize cycle time, and meet customer commitments.
- Monitor key operational KPIs (e.g., technician productivity, cycle time, first‑time fix rate, labor hours sold, defect rework) and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and quality.
- Ensure accurate job estimations, repair order documentation, parts requisitions, and time capture; coordinate with parts and service advisors to maintain parts availability and reduce delays.
- Conduct quality audits and final inspections on completed work to ensure compliance with technical bulletins, OEM procedures, and internal quality standards.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workshop environment; enforce health, safety, and environmental procedures, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Support warranty administration, recalls, and technical campaigns by liaising with OEM representatives, preparing required documentation, and ensuring compliant repairs.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for workshop staff; foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture that emphasizes accountability and continuous learning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as workflow optimization, training programs, and use of diagnostic and workshop management tools to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with service management, parts, and sales teams to support cross‑functional objectives, manage peak workloads, and contribute to after‑sales revenue targets.
- Certificate or diploma in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on automotive workshop experience with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead technician role.
- Proven technical competence across common vehicle systems (engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, diagnostics) and strong diagnostic/problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with workshop management systems, repair order workflows, and parts ordering processes; able to use data to prioritize work and improve outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach technicians, manage conflict, and maintain team morale under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high‑quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility to operate company vehicles where required.
- ASE certification, factory training, or equivalent manufacturer technical credentials.
- Experience with major dealer management systems (DMS) and digital workshop tools for scheduling, diagnostics, and parts management.
- Previous experience managing warranty repairs, service recalls, or working closely with OEM technical support.
- Familiarity with Lean/continuous improvement practices, 5S, or quality management processes.
- Full‑time position based primarily onsite in the workshop; schedule may include extended hours and occasional weekends to support operational needs and peak service periods.
- Competitive salary and performance‑based incentives commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, retirement plan options, paid time off, and employee vehicle benefits where applicable.
- Opportunities for professional development, manufacturer training, and career progression within a collaborative and inclusive workplace.
- We value diversity, equity, and inclusion and strive to maintain a safe, respectful work environment that supports work‑life balance and employee well‑being.
