BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Job Holder is primarily responsible as the Naval Safety Manager supporting Naval and Maritime programme operations. The Naval Safety Manager is responsible for the design, implementation and governance of the Safety & Environmental Management System (SEMS) to ensure safe naval and maritime operations
JOBACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and facilitate Safety and Environment Management System (SEMS).
- Act as the safety management primary point of contact with all safety stakeholders, internal stakeholders, MODSAP, Customer, and suppliers and subcontractors.
- Produce and maintain the Safety and Environmental Management Plan.
- Manage the requirements of the Safety and Environmental Management Systems are effectively managed and implemented with the complete operation.
- Ensure the Hazard Log Management tool is effectively maintained and managed.
- Manage all safety risks and quality issues identified within project’s are continually assessed, consistently managed, and appropriately escalated to assure the overall safe operations.
- Ensure all accidents, incidents and significant near misses are investigated, measures to prevent reoccurrences are identified and implemented, and the learning outcome communicated appropriately.
- Manage a Safety Programme Plan (SPP) (schedule) capturing all safety management activities, with progress reported on a monthly basis.
- Effectively manage all external audits / assessments are planned and any corrective actions are resolved in a timely manner.
- Manage the effective implementation of the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia Safety & Environmental policies, mandates, processes and procedures.
- Manage the production of Hazard Log, including conducting formal hazard risk assessments and continually review the Hazard Log, including any mapping into the Risk and Opportunity Log.
- Chair Hazard Management Meetings (HMMs).
- Manage and support the relevant Safety Action Groups (SAG), as required.
- Provide support to the Operations Director in his involvement in the Customer’s Safety Reviews.
- Identify, form and maintain strong working networks with the key stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Educated to Honours degree level. Preferably with Chartered Engineer status or educated to an MSc level within a safety related discipline but not essential.
- Experience of the development and implementation of Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
- Practical experience in one or more of the following systems:
Ships maintenance or seaworthiness. - Experience of Hazard Management and Risk Assessment.
- Knowledge of Design organisation safety, Maintenance organisation safety, seaworthiness process and procedures
- Practical experience and knowledge of the LCM and ELC process, handbooks and guides.
- Practical experience and knowledge of the BAE Systems safety and environmental policies and mandates.
- Experience in conducting investigations surrounding safety incidents.
- Strong technical and interpersonal skills with an ability to apply innovative thinking to problem solving.
- Able to plan and carryout safety assessments.
- Experience and knowledge in the production of safety justifications and the management of the production of safety evidence.
- Experience in Human Factors and its applicability to Safety Engineering process and provide a small amount of guidance where necessary.
- English Language ability to IELTS 6.0 or equivalent achieved within the last 2 years for non-native speakers
