The opportunity
Lead the scoping, supervision, and delivery of multiple large-scale technical projects in parallel, ensuring seamless transition from conceptual design to full-scale production. Provide strategic direction to Primary, Secondary and Structural engineering teams with a primary focus on on-time delivery (OTD), rigorous quality standards, and margin improvement through optimized design practices.

- Provide strategic direction to Primary, Secondary and Structural engineering teams with a primary focus on on-time delivery (OTD), rigorous quality standards, and margin improvement through optimized design practices. Review of deliverables before submission to client
- Develop and implement robust plans to identify and mitigate technical and business risks while maximizing opportunities for innovation and efficiency.
- Participate in customer meetings as required. Active participation in project review meeting.
- Create and manage financial plans and budget estimates for the engineering unit, ensuring strict adherence to fiscal targets and resource allocations.
- Evaluate and identify systemic improvements to the overall design processes, specifically focusing on the complexities of HV GIS technology.
- Establish, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for both electrical and mechanical engineering work streams to drive accountability and technical precision.
- Initiate and drive Lean engineering activities, developing and improving policies and procedures to enhance the overall effectiveness of the engineering function.
- Ensure that all engineering systems and software tools are understood, correctly implemented, and utilized to their full potential by the team.
- Lead recruitment efforts to attract top-tier engineering talent and ensure the department is properly organized, staffed, and skilled to meet evolving business needs.
- Guide, motivate, and coach direct and indirect reports, fostering a high-performance culture through proactive career development and succession planning.
- Ensure engineering teams are adequately resourced and equipped with the necessary tools and training to execute complex GIS projects.
- Maintain high-level communication and collaboration with cross-functional partners, including Project Management, Quality, Production, I&C and Sales.
- Partner closely with the Supply Chain function to ensure the availability of qualified suppliers, services, and equipment necessary for engineering execution.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, proactively seeking feedback to provide innovative, customized solutions that meet or exceed client requirements.

- Oversee planning and control processes to ensure all engineering outputs comply with international standards (IEC/IEEE), customer specifications, and Hitachi Energy’s internal requirements.
- You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Engineering Function and 3 years of experience in managing and handling the Team.
- Fluent in English, additional languages (Arabic) regarded as a plus.
- Strong interpersonal communication, team working skills combined with open-mindedness, reliability, and ability to work under pressure.
- Should have good knowledge of High Voltage Equipment and Gas Insulated Switchgear.
- Knowledge of Substation design will be added as an advantage.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Arabic language is required.
