JOB DESCRIPTION
Nov is one of the world’s largest suppliers of products and solutions to the oil and gas industry. NDS is a business group within the Wellbore Technologies segment, and with our Downhole Digital Solutions and Real‑Time Services offering we focus on drilling automation & optimization using downhole data. Our department concentrates primarily on deployment of wired drill pipe (WDP) technology and along‑string measurement (ASM) tools in drilling operations.
The system allows transmission of real‑time, high‑density, low‑latency data from logging‑while‑drilling (LWD) tools and from ASM subs. These tools provide temperature, annular/internal pressure, rotation, and vibration data. Due to increasing demand for our products and services we need additional personnel in our operations group to deliver intelligent, smarter and more cost‑efficient solutions to our customers.
Nov’s NDS technology is designed to deliver real‑time insights during drilling operations to improve efficiency and safety. The selected engineer will operate the technology in the field, support quality activities, provide operational reports, advise on drilling process optimizations, and assist in survey, installation and commissioning activities. The role also involves preparing case histories and technical articles, supporting sales teams, and mentoring other operations engineers.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILTY& AUTHORITY
- Operate NDS technology in the field, including Memory Tier 2 (Black Box) and Real‑Time Tier 4 (Wired Drill Pipe telemetry & Black Stream optimization tools).
- Support service quality activities.
- Provide reports during and after operations.
- Advise on drilling process optimizations.
- Participate in survey, installation and commissioning activities.
- Prepare case histories, technical articles and support sales technically.
- Train and mentor other Operations Engineers as required.
- Work within NOV systems to ensure quality and safe delivery of products and services.
- Understanding of drilling process.
- Understanding of EMW‑ECD principles & awareness.
- Familiar with rig site data acquisition systems.
- Effective communicator verbally & written.
- Self‑driven and motivated.
- MS Office / computer literacy.
- Independent, flexible worker.
- Ability to provide analytical reports and concise feedback.
(Education/No. of Years of Experience)
- BSc – engineering degree related to Oil & Gas industry (petroleum, drilling, geology, etc.).
- 2 to 5 years’ rig experience, MWD (or Mudlogger) engineer with good local drilling experience & rig‑up experience.
- Good personality for change management.
- Excellent English verbal and written communications skills.
- Fluent in using MS‑Office products, especially Word and Excel.
