Field Service Engineer

The opportunity

Working as Field Service Engineer to execute the installation, testing and commissioning activities at customer sites or Hitachi Energy projects related to the Transformer and OLTC products, including third‑party transformers if applicable and authorized by Hitachi Energy management.

How you’ll make an impact

• Active participation in site activities and visiting the customer site for installation, testing and commissioning of Hitachi transformers and other equipment as and when required or assigned by the line manager.
• Coordinate/interface with the tools management department and take care of transformer tools, arrange and properly use Hitachi Energy PGSV test equipment and tools to execute site activities for PGSV product installation, testing and commissioning, protection and control.
• Complete transformer installation and transformer compartment assembly work, minor fabrications if required, troubleshoot and rectify Hitachi Energy product defects workable at customer site and advise the action plan if the repair work needs to be carried out in Hitachi Energy factory or workshop. Supports the work activities of PGSV Service at site, or at customer workplace.
• Learn and perform the test equipment operation used for transformer product testing and maintenance work at site, customer premises or Hitachi Energy workplace.
• Work with the Project Management team on various projects as and when required with full compliance of PM requirements and maintain discipline advised by the PM or customer site regulations.
• Lead the contractor or sub‑contractor during job execution and coordinate with the customer and back‑office support for any resources required to complete the job. Get the PAC or timesheets signed by the customer after completion of the assigned task that can be used to invoice the customer.
• Prepare and provide site reports, activity plans and resource requirements and share them with the PM, line manager or supervisor.
• Follow the company rules and regulations, display good behavior at office and at site, any safety or integrity incident should be reported to line manager, supervisor or project manager. Implement value in day‑to‑day activity or task.
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly timesheet, expense report as per company guideline in a timely manner, prepare travel authorization prior to start of travel for site or deployment.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

• A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Previous experience of 3‑4 years in transformer and OLTC products, electrical equipment, protection and control, monitoring of transformers and measuring devices for transformer and OLTC.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Arabic language is required.
