Design senior fire protection engineer

We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire protection design for industrial facilities and commercial projects.

This role is primarily focused on the design, coordination, and review of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and authority requirements. Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in HCIS processes and requirements and Saudi Civil Defense approval projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with architects, MEP engineers, consultants, and project teams to develop efficient, code-compliant fire protection design solutions for a wide range of facilities.

• Design and develop fire protection systems for industrial facilities and commercial projects, including fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, standpipe and hose reel systems, and clean agent and foam systems where applicable.
• Prepare fire protection design calculations, technical reports, specifications, and detailed design and shop drawings.
• Coordinate fire protection design with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to ensure proper integration into the overall project.
• Review project requirements and ensure compliance with relevant local and international fire and life safety codes and standards.
• Support the preparation and submission of documents for HCIS and Civil Defense review and approval.
• Ensure designs meet HCIS regulations, Saudi Building Code requirements, Civil Defense requirements, and NFPA standards.
• Participate in design review meetings with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
• Provide technical support during project execution, including reviewing material submittals, RFIs, method statements, and contractor shop drawings.
• Conduct site visits when required to verify installation compliance with approved drawings and design intent.
• Assist in testing, commissioning, and final inspection activities related to fire protection systems.
• Support authority inspections, audits, and approval processes with relevant stakeholders.
• Stay current with developments in fire protection engineering, code updates, and industry best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in fire protection system design for industrial facilities and commercial projects.
• Strong experience in the design and coordination of fire protection systems, not only installation or maintenance.
• Experience in projects requiring HCIS approval and strong familiarity with HCIS procedures and requirements.
• Experience working on Civil Defense submission and approval projects in Saudi Arabia.
• Good knowledge of NFPA standards, Saudi Building Code, HCIS regulations, and applicable local authority requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant fire protection design software.
• Ability to prepare design drawings, hydraulic calculations, material specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
• Good problem-solving, analytical, and technical decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) certification is preferred.
