Job Title: Data Center BAS Operator
Reports To: Data Center Facility Engineer
SUMMARY: The Data Center BAS Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining the Building Automation System (BAS) and critical facility infrastructure within a mission-critical data center environment. The role ensures continuous monitoring of HVAC, power, cooling, fire alarm, and environmental systems to maintain maximum uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency in compliance with data center standards and procedures.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES BMS Monitoring & Operations- Monitor and operate the Building Management System (BMS) 24/7 to ensure optimal data center facility performance
- Continuously oversee critical infrastructure alarms, trends, and system parameters
- Respond promptly to alarms, abnormal conditions, and equipment failures
- Escalate critical incidents according to operational and emergency procedures.
Monitor critical systems including:
- Chillers and Cooling Systems
- CRAH/CRAC Units
- UPS Systems
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Generators and Fuel Systems
- Electrical Switchgear
- Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems
- Investigate alarms and identify root causes of system abnormalities
- Coordinate with Facilities, Mechanical, Electrical, and Operations teams during incidents
- Maintain accurate incident logs and operational reports
- Support emergency response activities and business continuity procedures.
- Assist maintenance teams during planned preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Review work permits, Method Statements (MS), and Risk Assessments (RA)
- Monitor equipment during maintenance windows and report any operational deviations.
- Maintain daily operational logs, shift handover reports, and alarm records
- Generate performance and trend reports from BMS platforms
- Ensure all operating procedures and documentation are updated and compliant with company standards.
- Adhere to data center operational standards, safety policies, and regulatory requirements
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work (PTW), and safety procedures
- Support audits and compliance inspections.
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Facilities Management, or related field
- 5 years of experience in Data Center Operations, Facilities Management, or BMS Operations
- Experience working with mission-critical facilities is highly preferred.

- Familiarity with platforms such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, or equivalent BMS systems
- Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and control system drawings.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong alarm management and troubleshooting capabilities
- Attention to detail and operational discipline
- Effective communication and shift handover skills
- Ability to work in a 24/7 shift environment
- Strong commitment to uptime, safety, and operational excellence.
- Data Center Operations Certification (CDCP/CDCS or equivalent)
- HVAC Certification
- BMS Operator Certification
- OSHA / NEBOSH Safety Certification
- Electrical Safety & LOTO Training.
