Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for developing, designing, and modifying mechanical systems, equipment, components, and assemblies within industrial environments. The role involves creating accurate 2D/3D designs, developing new systems, and providing practical engineering solutions that meet technical, operational, safety, and quality requirements.

• Develop mechanical systems, equipment, components, and assemblies based on project and operational requirements.
• Create and modify detailed 2D drawings, layouts, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings using CAD software.
• Develop accurate 3D models and mechanical assemblies with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, materials, and specifications.
• Develop practical design solutions to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
• Evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities for modification, improvement, or replacement.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and technical evaluations to validate designs.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, fabrication, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and implementable.
• Prepare design documentation, equipment specifications, BOMs, and technical reports.
• Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, calculations, and design changes.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure manufactured components meet required specifications.
• Conduct site/production-area visits to collect measurements and assess existing equipment when required.
• Follow applicable industrial safety procedures and PPE requirements.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Experience:
  
  2–4 years of mechanical design/engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience developing 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and models.
• Experience designing new mechanical systems, equipment, or components.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD design and modeling.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and engineering specifications.
• Practical understanding of fabrication, machining, assembly, and industrial equipment is preferred.
• Relevant CAD or engineering design certification is an advantage.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
