Position Overview
The Utilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring reliablesafeand efficient operation of all utility systems that support ductile iron pipe production
This includes power distributioncompressed airwater supplyhydraulicssteam thermal systemscooling towersfurnaces utilities and wastewater treatment
The engineer leads maintenanceperformance monitoringtroubleshootingand continuous improvement across all utility assets.
- Oversee daily operation of utility equipment compressorschillerscooling towerspumpsboilersfurnaces utilitiesgeneratorstransformersHVAC system sand water treatment units
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of utilities to meltingcastingannealingfinishingand coating sections
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot breakdowns and coordinate quick corrective actions
- Monitor and optimize energy consumptionelectricitywatergasdieselcompressed air
- Conduct energy audits and recommend cost-saving measures
- Reduce downtime and improve system efficiency using KPIs
- Ensure all utility systems comply with safetyenvironmentaland regulatory standards
- Conduct risk assessmentsSOP preparation and emergency response planning
- Maintain documentation for inspectionscalibrationsand compliance audits
- Lead installation and commissioning of new utility equipment
- Evaluate vendor proposalstechnical specifications and system modifications
- Support plant expansion and modernization projects
- Maintain utility performance dashboardspressureflowconsumptiontemperatureload
- Analyze trends and implement improvement actions
- Prepare dailyweeklyand monthly utility system reports
- Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical utility systems
- Expertise in compressed air systemspumpscooling towersheat exchangersfurnaces utilities
- Ability to read engineering drawingsP IDsand technical manuals
- Experience with SCADA BMS automation preferred
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
- Good leadership and team coordination
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Industrial or Utilities Engineering 5 10 years of experience in heavy manufacturing preferred ductile iron pipes steel foundry metallurgical plants or similar Experience in preventive and preventive maintenance systems CMMS.
Work EnvironmentHigh-temperature industrial setting with rotating machinery Requires on-call availability in case of utility emergencies Close collaboration with maintenance production safety and control room teams.
