Job Title: Data Center Mechanical Engineer

Reports To: Data Center Facility Manager

Summary:

The Data Center Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, reliability, and optimization of all mechanical systems within the data center facility. This role ensures continuous availability of critical cooling infrastructure, HVAC systems, chilled water systems, pumps, CRAC/CRAH units, and other mechanical equipment supporting mission-critical operations. The engineer plays a key role in maintaining uptime, supporting capacity planning, executing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot chillers, CRAH/CRAC, FCUs, chilled water pumps, cooling towers, HVAC, heat exchangers, water treatment and fuel systems
• Execute preventive/corrective maintenance and prepare MOPs in accordance with OEM requirements
• Perform authorized equipment shutdown, startup, isolation, restoration and redundancy rotation
• Monitor cooling system performance, equipment condition, temperatures, pressures and flow
• Supervise mechanical technicians and coordinate with OEMs/vendors for major maintenance and equipment failures
• Respond to mechanical emergencies and support RCA, corrective and preventive actions
• Maintain cooling redundancy, reliability and operational resilience
• Execute approved changes and support testing, commissioning and system optimization
• Manage critical spare parts, tools, testing equipment and calibration records
• Ensure compliance with HSE, SOPs, MOPs, EOPs and site procedures

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of data center/mission-critical facilities experience
• Strong experience with chillers, CRAH/CRAC, chilled water systems, pumps and HVAC
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and team leadership skills
• Experience managing technicians, OEMs and contractors
• Ability to work under pressure, shifts and on-call requirements.

Preferred Certifications/Training:

CDCP or equivalent,
Uptime Institute
, DCOM/ATS, HVAC/Chiller OEM training, LOTO, HSE and Crisis/Incident Management.
