Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL database environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance optimization, availability, security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning, and production support. The role requires proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of database infrastructure to ensure high availability and optimal performance of critical business applications.
Key Responsibilities Database Administration- Administer, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL database environments.
- Perform database installation, configuration, migration, upgrades, and patch management.
- Ensure database availability, reliability, and security in production and non-production environments.
- Implement and maintain database standards, policies, and operational procedures.
- Monitor database performance and conduct regular health checks.
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Perform capacity planning and resource utilization analysis.
- Manage database backup and recovery strategies.
- Configure and maintain replication solutions and high-availability architectures.
- Support disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution.
- Ensure recovery objectives (RPO/RTO) are met and documented.
- Investigate and resolve database-related incidents and service disruptions.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support and incident management activities.
- Support application teams during deployments, database releases, and upgrades.
- Manage database access controls, user privileges, and authentication mechanisms.
- Implement database security best practices and vulnerability remediation.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security and governance standards.
- Monitor audit logs and database activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Develop automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
- Recommend and implement database optimization and modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to support business objectives.
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration.
- Good experience with MySQL administration.
- Expertise in database replication technologies.
- Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery methodologies.
- Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting.
- Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools.
- Knowledge of database security best practices.
- Familiarity with High Availability (HA) and clustering solutions.
- Experience supporting production-critical database environments.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
