Coating Technician

The Coating Technician - is responsible for supporting thermal spray coating operations on gas turbine components, including pre coat and post coat weighing and coat application processes. In addition to executing process steps safely and accurately, this role is expected to demonstrate strong Lean behaviors, actively support problem solving, maintain 5S standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and productivity across the line.

• Perform Coat Application in accordance with approved work instructions, process standards, and engineering requirements.
• Perform Mask for Coating in accordance with approved work instructions and process specifications if required.
• Read and interpret work instructions and quality forms to ensure accurate coating application.
• Record and maintain accurate process and measurement data as required.
• Use coating equipment, weighing devices, fixtures, and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Inspect parts before and after coating processes to ensure conformance to quality requirements.
• Adhere to Standard Work and Standard Work Combination Sheets to ensure consistency, quality, safety, and efficient line flow.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Demonstrate strong understanding and application of Lean principles in daily work activities.
• Actively participate in problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities to address process or quality issues.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, quality, cycle time, flow, and waste reduction.
• Support improvements in standard work, line organization, visual management, and process discipline to strengthen overall Lean implementation.
• Contribute to team efforts that improve line performance, operational efficiency, and overall shop productivity.
• Work within takt time, cycle time, and standard process flow expectations to support production goals.
• Use shop floor systems and interfaces such as ELM and Smart Shop, as required.
• Comply with company quality policies, safety requirements, applicable procedures, and standard work.

• Diploma, technical college degree, or equivalent hands on experience.
• Knowledge or experience in a technician, manufacturing, coating, or industrial role.

• Min 2 years' experience with Thermal Barrier Coating processes.
• Participating in problem solving or process improvement activities.
• Min 2 years' experience working with gas turbine components or other precision aerospace/industrial parts.
