Position Overview
The Shift Incharge Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability and availability and efficient performance of all mechanical equipment used in the ductile iron pipe manufacturing process The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance troubleshooting improvement projects and technical support to maintain smooth plant operations
Key Responsibilities Preventive Predictive MaintenanceDevelop and implement preventive maintenance PM schedules for all machinery Conduct condition monitoring vibration temperature lubrication checks Ensure timely servicing to reduce equipment downtime
Mechanical Breakdown MaintenanceDiagnose mechanical failures and perform root-cause analysis RCA Provide quick corrective actions to restore production equipment Coordinate with production and utilities teams during shutdowns
Equipment System CoverageResponsible for the mechanical upkeep of Melting furnaces and charging equipment
Centrifugal casting machines
Annealing furnaces
Pipe handling systems conveyors and transfer lines
Cutting grinding and finishing machines
Mould and core handling systems
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Cooling water systems pumps and gearboxes
Identify critical spares and maintain adequate stock levels Ensure proper documentation technical drawings Coordinate with procurement for spare parts and vendor support
Safety ComplianceEnsure all maintenance activities follow safety standards and LOTO procedures Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety audits Prepare risk assessments SOPs and equipment safety checks
Continuous ImprovementSuggest and implement improvements to enhance equipment reliability Lead mechanical modification projects and performance upgrades Reduce maintenance costs through optimization
Documentation ReportingMaintain maintenance reports Prepare daily weekly maintenance reports Track KPIs downtime hours and maintenance cost
Key Skills CompetenciesStrong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Able to handle multi task more then one function Also Training employees to perform different job functions Knowledge of heavy industrial machinery and rotating equipment Expertise in hydraulics pneumatics gearboxes pumps and conveyors Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools vibration analysis thermography Good communication and team coordination skills
QualificationsBachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering 5 10 years experience in heavy industry preferably ductile iron pipes Plant
Work EnvironmentHigh-temperature foundry environment with rotating heavy machinery Requires availability during emergency breakdowns Works closely with production utilities instrumentation and safety teams
