Role

Purpose:

Independently set up, program, optimize, and operate assigned CNC and conventional machines—including VTLs, HBMs, turning centers, and lathes—to manufacture, repair, and rework precision components, premium connections, API connections, and other assigned jobs to approved specifications and tolerances. Inspect, measure, machine, repair, assemble, and perform or support authorized testing of pressure-control and rotating equipment in accordance with manufacturer requirements, approved procedures, quality standards, and HSE controls.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Job planning and priorities: Review drawings, procedures, routing, and job requirements; coordinate priorities with the supervisor; and select an efficient machining and repair method.
  • Machine setup and operation: Independently set up and operate VTLs, HBMs, CNC turning centers, milling machines, and conventional lathes, including alignment, work holding, datum setting, tooling, offsets, simulation, and controlled prove-out.
  • CNC programming: Create, input, edit, verify, prove out, and optimize programs for premium connections, API connections, and other assigned work, including cycles, toolpaths, speeds, feeds, depths of cut, compensation, and machining sequences within approved controls.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and correct machine, program, setup, chatter, vibration, tool-wear, dimensional-drift, and surface-finish issues using manufacturer information and approved methods.
  • Precision machining: Manufacture and restore components to specified dimensions, fits, concentricity, runout, surface finish, geometric tolerances, and workmanship standards.
  • Pressure-control repair: Disassemble, clean, inspect, measure, machine, lap, reface, repair, restore, replace, and reassemble valves, actuators, pressure-containing components, and sealing parts; document wear, damage, corrosion, and dimensional deviations.
  • Testing and inspection: Perform dimensional checks and, within assigned authorization, prepare and perform or support approved hydrostatic, pneumatic, shell, seat-leakage, operational, and functional tests using specified criteria and calibrated instruments.
  • Performance and completion: Meet approved utilization, productivity, efficiency, quality, routing-time, and manufacturer-standard requirements; complete inspection, test, and work-order routing records; and submit completed work for required verification and release.
  • Teamwork and communication: Work independently or with team members, communicate professionally, provide technical guidance within own competence, and escalation issues requiring additional support.
  • Equipment care and development: Maintain machines, tooling, test equipment, housekeeping, and accurate handovers; keep product and technical knowledge current and attend required training.
Person Specifications:
  • Qualification: High school certificate with a recognized apprenticeship or vocational qualification in mechanical or production engineering, machining, CNC manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or a related discipline; a technical diploma is preferred.
  • Experience: 4–6 years of hands‑on machining, equipment repair, or maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, heavy‑equipment, or oil-and-gas service environment, including at least 2 years independently setting up, programming, proving out, and operating assigned CNC machine tools.
  • Machine tools: Demonstrated capability operating assigned VTLs, HBMs, CNC lathes or turning centers, milling machines, and conventional lathes, including complex setup, alignment, work holding, datum setting, tooling, simulation, and prove-out.
  • CNC programming: Proven ability to create, input, edit, verify, and optimize programs; set cycles, offsets, compensation, speeds, feeds,…
