Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
The Site WHS Officer will partner with a site operations team in a delivery station to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. Leveraging lean principles and kaizens, the officer will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates.
Success in this role requires building trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspiring change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS standards and policies.
- Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and identify plans to rectify deficiencies.
- Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations.
- Analyze safety metrics; review incident trends weekly and monthly to rationalize resource allocation to areas with the highest safety risk.
- Ensure proper incident investigation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment and processes.
- Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
- Audit record-keeping practices and ensure audit entries align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
- Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
- Lead and mentor Safety Associates during peak periods.
- Spend time at the delivery station and solicit input from Safety teams, Associates and leaders to improve the safety program, ensuring open communication on progress and resolution.
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English.
- Experience in workplace health & safety (WHS) related field.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certified.
