Description

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of the Crane, Operator position is to safely and efficiently operate cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment at AMHEC's clients' sites.

Job Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate different types of cranes, all terrain mobile cranes, and rough terrain cranes, depending on the specific requirements of the job.
  • Understand and follow safety protocols and procedures while operating the crane to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on the crane to ensure it is in proper working condition.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the crane, such as lubricating parts, checking hydraulic systems, and replacing worn-out components.
  • Report any malfunctions or defects to his direct supervisor and coordinator, operations for timely repairs.
  • Determine the weight and dimensions of the load to be lifted and select the appropriate crane and lifting gear using assigned crane load chart.
  • Precisely and accurately position heavy loads, particularly when working in confined spaces or in proximity to existing structures.
  • Rig the load properly, attaching slings, hooks, or other lifting devices as needed.
  • Lift and move loads to specified locations with precision, considering environmental factors and potential obstacles.
  • Maintain clear and constant communication with ground personnel, signalers, and other team members using hand signals, two-way radios, or other communication devices.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors, truck pushers and work collaboratively with the rig move team.
  • Adhere to AMHEC's policies, procedures and safe work instruction.
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the crane operating area.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and regulations.
  • When required, keep accurate records of daily activities, including the type and weight of loads lifted, hours of operation, and maintenance performed.
  • Complete required paperwork and reports, such as lift plans, checklist and logbooks.
  • Adjust crane operation based on changing environmental factors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues or malfunctions in a timely manner.
  • Sign-off on the Equipment Checklist along with Operations representative and inspector prior to mobilization, as an acknowledgement of receiving in good condition prior to project execution.
  • Check working condition of the crane and all accessories, on a daily basis prior to utilization.
  • Perform safety and maintenance checks as per the loading equipment guidelines.
  • Document daily inspection, safety and maintenance checks.
  • Complete operation time sheets (of AMHEC and client), daily, in an ethical and diligent manner and obtain approval from the authorized client representative.
  • Coordinate with the truck pushers to submit time sheets, immediately, upon project completion.
  • Clean, maintain and secure all crane as directed by the equipment operation guidelines.
  • Assemble accessories as per the loading equipment operation guidelines.
  • Monitor site conditions which could affect loading operation and refuse (using the stop work authority) any operation which is unsafe or could damage the equipment and accessories.
  • Place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads. Adhered to a crane load chart for all types of lifts.
  • Adequately secure and shut down and park the crane and its accessories, if unattended and, at closure of daily operations.
  • Consider all factors that might reduce load capacity and adjust the load weight to counter such factors including weather and ground conditions.
  • Follow safety guidelines at AMHEC, client and rig sites and must always be in personal protective equipment when in duty.
  • Inform the Truck Pushers, Coordinator, Rig Move of any problems, maintenance, or necessary repairs to the equipment and complete the basic requirements in the Work Order form.
  • Sign-off on the Equipment Checklist along with Operations representative, prior to demobilization and at the time of arrival at AMHEC's Yard, as an acknowledgement.
  • Receive any complaints about operations and quality of service from the client and report the same to the Supervisor, Truck Pushers, Coordinator, and Operations in a timely manner.
