Join a professional shipboard deck team as an Able Bodied Seaman (AB) on board our fleet of vessels. This role supports safe deck operations, cargo handling, mooring, maintenance, and lookout duties under the direction of the Bosun, Chief Officer, and Master. The AB will contribute to the vessel’s compliance with international and company safety and environmental standards while working as part of a multicultural shipboard crew.
Responsibilities- Carry out all tasks and duties as directed by the Chief Officer or their nominee to enable the Deck Department to operate safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe and efficient manner using relevant safety equipment.
- Assume gangway, fire patrol, or security patrol watches if required.
- Maintain a valid Work Permit for work requiring such a Permit.
- Report any malfunction of equipment to the Bosun, Deck Supervisor, Chief IR, or Deck Officer on watch.
- Report maintenance and safety information as required by the Integrated Management System.
- Operate the anchor winches and handle towing bridle and anchor handling equipment safely and correctly.
- Operate the vessel’s forklift truck if certified.
- Perform duties of a Helicopter Deck Attendant or Helicopter Fireguard if qualified.
- Maintain cleanliness and general hygiene of the vessel.
- Maintain mooring ropes, wires, cordage, rigging, and running gear under Bosun direction.
- Maintain steelwork and paintwork as required by the Bosun.
- Serve as lookout or helmsman during sea watches when required.
- Assist with mooring and unmooring the vessel as directed.
- Assist with cargo operations as directed by the Bosun.
- Operate winches and cranes as required.
- Handle stores and garbage as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness of accommodation, toilets, and mess rooms.
- Operate workboat(s) and rescue boat(s) if designated as Coxswain or Boat’s Crew, with appropriate training, qualification, and certification.
- Operate cranes if designated as crane driver, with appropriate training, qualification, and certification.
- Carry out any lawful command as requested by Shipboard Management.
- Wear, inspect, and care for required personal protective equipment.
- Certification as per STCW reg II/5 with required endorsements.
- Valid medical certificate.
- Minimum 12 months of experience in rank and on similar type of vessel.
- Experience on AHTS, supply, tanker, or offshore support vessels, including mooring operations, anchor handling assistance, or deck cargo duties.
- Advanced seamanship and rigging training.
- Basic crane/derrick operations awareness.
- H2S or shore-based safety courses.
- Familiarity with maintenance tasks such as painting, metalwork preparation, and preventive upkeep of deck machinery and fittings.
- Strong teamwork, reliability, and a positive safety attitude with the ability to mentor less experienced crew.
Seafaring life with rotational deployments; assignments may include extended periods onboard with defined on/off rotation schedules. Work in offshore, port, and confined-space environments; ability to operate safely around moving machinery, at heights, and during inclement weather when required. Must comply with medical fitness standards, vaccinations, and company pre‑employment screening requirements.
