Summary
The Peer Navigator will serve as a mentor and guide for participants in the Nuvance Health Career Readiness Academy by offering personalized advice, sharing relevant personal experiences, and helping participants set and achieve realistic career goals. The role involves building trust, providing encouragement during challenges, and fostering a sense of community to ensure participants feel supported throughout their journey. This role is critical in providing personalized support, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring participants successfully navigate their career readiness journey.
The Peer Navigator will collaborate with program coordinators, career coaches, and academic achievement coaches to empower participants and help them achieve their career goals.
- Acts as a mentor and advocate for Career Readiness Academy participants, building trust and fostering a supportive environment.
- Assists participants in understanding program requirements, such as attendance and performance expectations, milestones like completing specific training modules or certifications, and available resources including academic tutoring, career counseling, and access to financial aid information.
- Provides one-on-one guidance to address challenges participants may face, such as balancing work, education, and personal responsibilities.
- Connects participants with appropriate internal and external resources, including academic support, career services, and community organizations.
- Supports participants in accessing professional development opportunities and workshops.
Collaboration:
- Works closely with program staff, including the Program Manager, career coaches, and academic achievement coaches, to ensure seamless participant support.
- Provides feedback to the program team on participant progress, challenges, and areas for improvement, ensuring that this feedback is used to refine program delivery, address barriers to success, and enhance overall participant outcomes.
- Participates in team meetings and contributes to program enhancement initiatives.
- Facilitates peer networking and group activities to build a strong community among Career Readiness Academy participants.
- Leads small group discussions, workshops, and activities that enhance participants' learning and career development.
- Maintains accurate records of participant interactions and progress.
- Provides regular reports to the Program Manager on participant engagement, outcomes, and any identified barriers.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Current or former participants of the Career Readiness Academy are strongly encouraged to apply. Some college coursework or interest in workforce development, career coaching, or a related field is a plus.
Experience:
- No prior professional experience required; mentorship, volunteer work, or participation in workforce readiness programs is beneficial.
- Familiarity with career readiness programs, workforce development, or healthcare career pathways is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport and foster trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn program-specific software.
