Summary
The Development Engineer, Water is responsible for the mechanical design and development of control valves for the commercial HVAC industry, ensuring project accuracy and product quality from conception to completion and throughout the product life‑cycle. The role interfaces with internal groups and external vendors and customers, working closely with Engineers, Technicians, Procurement, and Quality in a project‑oriented, hands‑on team environment. Technical leadership and project management for Water Development projects are key responsibilities, requiring strong mechanical design, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
WhatYou'll Do
- Lead the development and qualification of new and existing products.
- Create CAD models and drawings for manufacturing, select materials, utilize GD&T, and analyze function relationships.
- Collaborate with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes, inspection procedures, and end‑test equipment capabilities.
- Organize, schedule, and coordinate qualification testing, analysis, and reporting.
- Identify and evaluate technical risks throughout the development process, using risk‑management tools for mitigation.
- Identify areas of growth opportunity and optimize processes, procedures, tools, methods, and equipment to improve overall quality and efficiency.
- Execute design reviews and regular exchanges with team members to share information, identify risks, and verify documentation for correctness and accuracy prior to release.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and suppliers.
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Mechanical design experience (7+ years).
- 3D CAD modeling and drafting proficiency.
- Experience with various manufacturing technologies.
- Experience with rapid prototyping processes.
- Hands‑on experimental testing and analysis.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Experience working in a structured product development team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and support multiple projects or tasks.
- Self‑starter and highly motivated.
- Limited local or international travel may be required.
- Technical Project Management experience.
- Technical leadership experience.
- Knowledge of SAP and PLM.
- NX CAD software.
- Engineer Control Center (ECTR) experience.
- FEA or CFD expertise.
- Knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of HVAC applications, actuators, or fluid mechanics.
- German, Italian, or Chinese language skills.

The base pay for this position ranges from $95,000 to $115,000 annually, with a target performance bonus of 15% of an employee's annual base salary. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
