ATTENTION STERILE PROCESSING EQUIPMENT TECHS!!

THE DANBURY HOSPITAL IS GROWING AND SEEKS A FULL TIME DAY SHIFT (9 - 5:30)

Great opportunity for an experienced/certified or course-completed Sterile Processing Tech. This is a union position with pay based on years of experience, starting at $21/hour plus shift differentials. Competitive pay, perks, and benefits.

Summary

Fulfills all Level 1 Tech responsibilities. Under minimal supervision, performs manual and automated activities in processing equipment, surgical instruments, and supplies for decontamination, sterilization, and general processing. Responsible for item tracking and inspection using a computerized system. Distributes and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies used for surgical and endoscopic procedures. Works independently and may assume charge roles on weekends and as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes workflow in the Sterile Processing Department, addressing immediate needs of the Operating Room and other departments, including stat requests.
  • Communicates needs and priorities to the Supervisor or Lead Tech. Attends daily huddles and shift change meetings.
  • Verifies that all equipment and instruments required for the next day's procedures are accounted for.
  • Prepares case carts for upcoming procedures, identifying missing equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures compliance with AAMI standards and regulations in decontamination, sterilization, packaging, and inventory control.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of sterile and non-sterile supplies.
  • Mentors new employees in workflow prioritization during peak and emergency situations.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Other Requirements:
Minimum of three years of related experience;
Certified Sterile Processing Technician certification required.

Working Conditions:
Manual dexterity required; potential occupational risks; physical effort up to 50 lbs.; exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and waste.

Salary Range: $18.97 - $35.21 hourly
