Part Time RN Nurse Specialist, Stress Testing Department
Location:
Danbury, CT; 32 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour shifts between 7:15 am‑3:45 pm.

To safely operate cardiac diagnostic equipment, supervise and compile data on patients during cardiac diagnostic procedures to obtain optimal results and data processing for the general purpose of diagnosing heart disease.
Responsibilities- Works primarily day shift hours as needed by department.
- Obtains medical history during patient interview, assesses patient’s condition, and explains test procedure to ensure patient comfort and safety prior to initiating procedure.
- Prepares patients, adjusts and activates equipment, and connects patients to monitoring devices to initiate the cardiology procedure, including assuring adequate intravenous access.
- Evaluates patients and patient data for clinical safety to have cardiac testing. Supervises stress testing to obtain adequate high diagnostic yield while making clinical judgment regarding patient safety. Pass clinical judgment to take emergency interventions and initiate action to preserve patient safety and good clinical outcomes.
- Performs non‑invasive procedures including EKG, Holter & TTM hook up, Holter Analysis Scanning, SAECG, and independently performs all forms of Exercise stress testing including Nuclear Cardiology Exercise Stress Testing, including the administration of pharmacology involved in pharmacological stress testing.
- Assists the cardiologist with the set up, monitoring, and recovery of patients during TEE, and Tilt Table Testing.
- Monitors patient performance during test procedures to observe for abnormalities, and institutes proper emergency procedures when necessary. Provides direct patient care during procedures.
- Provides instruction and direction to patient through patient education procedures to ensure patient satisfaction before, during and after diagnostic procedures.
- Obtains test results and delivers results to doctors to provide timely satisfactory information. Reviews all results and monitored conditions as they are processed for marked abnormalities, and quickly brings these abnormalities to the attention of a cardiologist for further triage.
- Administers drugs and solutions as prescribed during the procedures.
- Provides nursing assistance to all areas of the Non‑Invasive cardiology lab.
- Participates in conferences, staff meetings, in service training and quality assurance program to keep informed and promote continuous quality improvement.
- Cleans exam room and equipment and stocks supplies to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and co‑workers.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN). - Current RN license in Connecticut.
- Minimum three years of RN experience, preferably in a cardiac diagnostic or related setting.
- BSN preferred; certification in the area of specialty is desired.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac stress testing protocols and patient safety procedures.
- Manual: significant manual skills, motor coordination and finger dexterity.
- Occupational: some occupational risk.
- Physical Effort: medium to heavy effort; may exert up to 35 lbs.
- Physical Environment: some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
Salary Range: $45.93 – $85.29 hourly.
