Mammography Technologist

Summary

Performs mammography procedures to help physicians in the care of their patients and supports the hospital's objective of quality patient care.

• Greets patients, introduces self, and checks patient identification.
• Reviews patient's script to insure that the appropriate exam is being performed.
• Explains procedure and ensures the safety and comfort of patient.
• Produces images and analysis images for interpretation to the Radiologist.
• Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures.
• Requires knowledge of MQSA requirements and adheres to them.
• Performs QA tests daily on equipment.
• Maintains familiarity of computer system to complete orders and cancel exams as necessary.
• Recalls patient's prior exam history as pertinent to exam.
• Exposure with other modalities.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
• Minimum Experience:
  
  one year
• Desired:
  Experience with patient care in a radiology setting. Specialty certification.

• Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination & finger dexterity.
• Occupational:
  Significant occupational risk.
• Physical Effort:
  Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force.
• Physical Environment:
  Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
