Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Per Diem) – Danbury Hospital Perinatology

Position Overview: Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures in obstetrical and gynecological patients, providing essential imaging for physicians while delivering patient care and comfort.

• Maintain full knowledge of ultrasound techniques and obstetrical/gynecological anatomy.
• Perform initial fetal evaluations, biometry, and fetal activity assessment.
• Assist the Perinatologist with patient scans, explain procedures, and relay findings.
• Assist with amniocentesis: explain, ensure forms, set up equipment, guide needle, provide post‑procedure instructions.
• Maintain and inventory equipment, supplies, linens, and instrument trays.
• Complete 30 CME credits per triennium and participate in professional organizations; keep teaching tapes for ultrasound cases.
• Assist in training OB/GYN residents and medical students.
• Coordinate staff coverage and patient scheduling; inform director of conflicts.
• Train and orient perinatal ultrasound staff and collaborate on protocol quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional requirements.
• Model Nuvance Health values and maintain reliable attendance.

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
• American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography in OB/GYN certification within one year of hire.
• Desired:
  At least one year of experience in obstetric ultrasound.

Salary: $32.23 - $59.86 per hour (Union)
