Performs diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety. May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiologic technologist students and assist in evaluating students ability to perform procedures.
Responsibilities:- 1. Greet patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification.
- 2. Reviews patient script and Cerner requisition to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed.
- 3. Acquires appropriate history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed.
- 4. Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test.
- 5. Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety & comfort of the patient.
- 6. Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards.
- 7. Produces and review high quality xrays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
- 8. Interacts professionally with patient and family.
- 9. Attends annual hospital review & departmental in services meetings. Practices medicine & surgical aseptic procedures. Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures. Works well with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
- 10. May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility. May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures & ensures student attains objectives of each competency.
- 11. Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s).
- 12. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- 13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
Other Information:Required:
Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license. Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.
