Location: Summer n’s – Camp Chris
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 4:15pm
Training Dates: June 8 – June 15, 2026
Season Dates: June 16 – August 19, 2026
Salary Range: $20 – $25 per hour
Position OverviewThe STEM Program Provider is responsible for planning and delivering interactive, age‑appropriate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) experiences to campers entering Pre‑K through Grade
5. Through hands‑on activities, experiments, and challenges, the provider will spark curiosity, promote problem‑solving skills, and inspire excitement about discovery in a fun, inclusive camp environment.
- STEM Activity Facilitation:
Lead engaging 40‑minute STEM sessions with campers grouped by age (Pre‑K, K–1, 2–3, and 4–5), using experiments, games, building challenges, and creative problem‑solving to introduce key concepts. Developmentally Appropriate Practice:
Design projects that are suited to the cognitive and motor skills of each age group, using simple materials and clear instructions for younger campers and more open‑ended challenges for older ones. - Hands‑On Instruction:
Foster excitement through interactive learning—whether it’s building with recycled materials, exploring basic coding with unplugged tools, creating volcanoes, or solving engineering puzzles. - Organization and Prep:
Set up and clean up all materials, ensuring supplies are prepared for each session. Keep track of inventory needs and equipment usage. - Classroom Management:
Maintain a structured, safe, and positive learning environment where all campers feel supported and encouraged to explore. - Collaboration and Integration:
Coordinate with other program providers and camp leaders to align STEM activities with camp‑wide themes and events. - Modeling Enthusiasm and Growth Mindset:
Serve as a role model by demonstrating curiosity, patience, and a positive attitude toward learning and experimentation.
Education and Experience
- Experience leading STEM‑based or hands‑on educational activities with children, particularly in a camp, school, after‑school, or museum setting.
- Strong ability to explain complex ideas in age‑appropriate, engaging ways.
- Familiarity with early STEM concepts, maker‑based learning, and classroom materials (e.g., magnets, circuits, building tools, recycled materials, etc.).
- Background in STEM Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications required (training can be provided during staff orientation).
- Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in a fast‑paced camp environment.
- Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
- Bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height to access higher areas of equipment, etc.
- Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
- Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
