Cafeteria Lunch Monitor (Part-time Non-benefited)

Reports to Building Principal & Food Service Director.
General DutiesTo supervise students and support the Food Services operation in the cafeteria during lunch periods.
- Clean cafeteria tables between lunch periods.
- Monitor the lunch line as students enter the cafeteria and are waiting to get lunch.
- Set up and restock condiment stations as well as plasticware, napkins, etc.
- Support students learning their PINs at the start of the school year.
- Supervise and manage students trying to re-enter the serving line after leaving.
- Consistently circulate around cafeteria tables to assist and guide students and supervise the lunchroom.
- Check daily for students that have restrictions for dietary or physical needs.
- Encourage appropriate behavior and interactions; refer students to the administrator on duty when necessary.
- Understand and adhere to all district policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safety of students in the cafeteria.
- Assist students as necessary with packaging or utensils used for eating and drinking.
- Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
- Apply proper sanitation and safety requirements associated with food operations.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Establish and maintain professional work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
- Attend in-service training and workshops (at least 4 hours per year).
- Complete Civil Rights in Child Nutrition Programs annually.
2.5 hours per day each day lunch is served in the cafeteria through the school year. This is subject to change per needs of the department and district.
