Job Description We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer/Programmer with a focus on automation equipment development, implementation, and validation to join our Mobius Engineering Automation Team in Danvers, MA. This position is primarily responsible for providing innovative automated solutions to existing manual processes through collaboration with equipment suppliers and internal colleagues. The individual we are seeking must enjoy handling multiple projects, in different phases, simultaneously.
The company needs a hands-on, aggressive individual that is self-motivated to provide controls engineering for the company.
Responsibilities
Develop equipment documentation to meet GxP requirements, e.g., URS, FAT, Equipment IQ/OQ/PQ, PM, SOPs. Perform IQ/OQ/PQ and provide maintenance support on instruments as needed.Act as the primary interface between the Automation group and the MES system group.Utilize a strong understanding of PLC programming, electrical and controls systems, Networking, MES, and OPC systems to ensure proper communication between production machines (PLC-Based, Rockwell) and the MES system (Aspentech-based). Ability to create or modify PLC programs is required.Create and manage network topology and I/O lists.Provide guidance for the safe installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical control systems, including machinery and equipment components.Observe all regulatory requirements including GMPs, ISO, and internal policies. Knowledge of NFPA 79, ISO 13849-1, and ANSI-95 is highly preferred.Maintain the validated state of existing validated automated manufacturing equipment.Act as the subject matter expert for all automation activities, including change control, validation, and documentation.Evaluate and analyze control processes to identify opportunities to increase value for the plant.Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the definition, design, development, and implementation of production control systems for advanced technology facilities.Experience in a commercial medical, biotechnology, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment is highly preferred.Previous experience with MES systems (preferably Aspentech) is highly desirable.PLC Programming, Motion Control, and HMI experience (AB PLCs and Rockwell Software products).Ability to self-direct toward milestones as part of team projects.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation and Controls, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
