Activities Assistant – New England Homes for the Deaf

New England Homes for the Deaf, founded in 1901, is a life‑plan community offering comprehensive care and activities for Deaf, Deaf‑blind, and hard‑of‑hearing seniors. We provide independent living, respite, and long‑term care while delivering recreational activities and social support in an accessible environment.

• Available 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, preferred weekdays and weekends.
• Create and facilitate activities for residents.
• Invite and encourage residents to participate.
• Explain time, place and nature of activities as needed.
• Offer activity materials and allow residents to explore interests.
• Assist with sunroom and other activity areas.
• Support residents during activities, transport, and documentation.
• Properly record each resident’s daily activity participation in logs.
• Provide appointment reminders for in‑house activity services.
• Copy and distribute activity schedules.
• Set up activity areas and assist with off‑site events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director.

• Respectful and compassionate attitude toward residents and staff.
• Willingness to work weekends occasionally or regularly.
• Calm demeanor during excited or emergency situations.
• Preferred: clear communication using ASL.
• All staff must take free on‑site ASL and Culture classes.
