Facilities Maintenance Lead

The individual will be a capable hands‑on facilities technician with the responsibility to provide leadership and support for mechanical or electrical specialists. This person will lead the facilities specialists, delegate and organize work orders through JTI’s work‑order management system, and will create purchasing requests in SAP on behalf of the Engineering Department. The individual will report to the Building and Utilities Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Facilities: Lead and provide mechanical or electrical maintenance support to facilities specialists, both preventative and corrective, for all facilities (repairs of bathrooms, lighting, doors, roof cleaning, painting, HVAC). Create and delegate maintenance work orders in SAP Maintenance tracking system, verify completion, and monitor quality of workmanship (document hours, parts, and corrective actions).
  • Production support: Provide mechanical or electrical support to the RMC production at the time of breakdowns requiring emergency corrective actions to ensure the resumption of operations in a timely manner. Be responsible for proper and efficient operation of facility equipment – air compressors, boilers, bag houses, HVAC. Report all issues to the manager and lead repairs under the direction of the manager.

    In the event of emergency breakdown, collaborate with Maintenance, Processing, Quality and EHS teams to ensure facility processing equipment is functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Energy and efficiency: Ensure stable electrical, hot‑water supply, compressed air, natural gas, and conditioned air supply for production, warehouses and administration buildings; improve energy consumption and safety in the area of responsibility. Analyze and report energy consumption. Operate and improve the Building Management System (BMS) with necessary data collection.
  • Contractor management: Work with contractors to onboard, complete safety inductions and ensure all contractors working onsite are following JTI safety policy and procedures.
  • Operation: Substitute Facilities Maintenance Specialists during absences (vacation, sick days) to support production. Attend trainings, lead and assist with IWS activities and implementation for the facilities team.
  • EHS standards compliance: Comply with all EHS standards (labor safety, fire protection, environmental and hygienic rules, equipment safety, etc.). Ensure appropriate PPE is used, equipment safety guarding is re‑installed after work, tools are clean, properly stored and inspected. Monitor colleagues, contractors and visitors at the processing facility and provide feedback when unsafe actions are performed.
  • People management: (if applicable) Recruit, motivate and guide the professional development of the team reporting directly and indirectly to the incumbent.
  • Other: (if applicable) Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon manager’s request.
Job Requirements
  • Associate Degree with a mechanical or electrical focus, or High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of mechanical or electrical hands‑on experience in an industrial environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years mechanical or electrician experience in a manufacturing environment; preferred but willing to consider individuals new to the workforce with a mechanical or electrical degree.
  • Articulate in English with good communication and written skills when dealing with individuals.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work in a team environment, proficient computer skills, open‑minded, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering skills.
