Intake Nurse Coordinator, Behavioral Health Unit
Join Lifepoint Behavioral Health as an Intake Nurse Coordinator at Ephraim McDowell, a 15-bed behavioral health unit in Danville, Kentucky.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 3p–11p.
In this role you will play a vital part in helping communities become healthier by providing compassionate, quality care and coordinating nursing activities.
How You’ll Contribute- Assist the PD in directing nursing activities during evening working hours.
- Assist the PD in recruitment and interviewing of staff.
- Conduct new employee education and training.
- Assist in review and revision of policies and procedures.
- Participate in departmental and team meetings.
- Work with internal and external customers to identify patient appropriateness for admission or referral to community resources.
- Provide group therapies and train other clinical staff to ensure quality patient care and proper documentation.
- Maintain patient/family confidentiality and provide sensitive, respectful, compassionate service.
- Work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Understand legal issues associated with assessment/admission for voluntary vs involuntary status, EMTALA, and admission processes when patients have a guardian in Kentucky.
- Knowledge of DSM‑V or most recent version.
- Understand mental illness stages of development and present clinical findings to attending psychiatrist, providing handoff to charge RN.

- Registered RN with a graduate accredited nursing program.
- Previous experience in psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
- Two years of leadership experience preferred.
- Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing; valid driver’s license preferred.
- CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days; flexible hours may be required.
