FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The company is based in Reno, NV, and has been in business for over nine years.
What is an Occupancy Verification?Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to verify occupancy. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities- Complete inspections within 4 days of assignment.
- Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in an app.
- Drive extended periods during the day within the assigned territory.
- Be responsible for all inspections in your county, potentially sharing the county with another inspector if volume allows.
- Computer with an internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you may earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete between 20 and 500 inspections per month working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections, but the work is consistent month to month.
No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
