Position: Security Officer 1 - Danville State Hospital

By performing a variety of safety and security tasks, you will help us keep the hospital safe for our residents. In this position, you will enforce department and hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Your duties will include maintaining a daily patrol log of activities, completing incident reports, and completing safety paperwork. As a Security Officer, you will respond to all emergencies and assist emergency response agencies on the campus. You will also perform monthly safety inspections, distribute keys to staff and vendors, and assist with new employee orientation.

Your work will involve patrolling the campus and parking lots and assisting with searches for missing patients. Additionally, you will operate the communication center by answering phone calls, as well as checking in visitors and searching items for contraband materials.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM, rotating schedule including every other weekend, with two 15-minute breaks. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime as needed
  • Free parking!
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.

Legal Requirements
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
