- Responsible for performing a wide range of clerical duties and direct patient care activities as needed by the unit; ensure efficient and timely performance to support the care team
- Provide patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice to meet the multidisciplinary care plan
- Identify, observe, and document patients’ physical needs; report changes to licensed personnel promptly
- Obtain and maintain specimens per policy and physician order
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and ongoing continuum of care (hygiene, changing linens)
- Provide one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned
- Process specimens and transport to the laboratory in a timely manner
- Perform point-of-care testing and instrument maintenance/quality control
- Support problem solving and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students
- Perform admissions, transfers, discharges, and related clerical tasks; process orders per unit standards
- Release and confirm ordered tests to appropriate departments
- Coordinate patient transport for multiple tests
- Communicate electronic information relevant to the unit (scheduling tests, faxing consults, etc.)
- Assist in ordering supplies and maintaining inventory
- Coordinate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets
- Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment; schedule maintenance as needed
- Access to non-controlled medication storage and transport as required; assist with transporting to Pharmacy and Blood Bank as needed
AGP5 Medical Surgical ICU
Schedule: Three 12-hour Day (7:00am - 7:30pm) and Night (7:00pm - 7:30am) shifts, including every other weekend and holiday.
Required Orientation: Two-week classroom orientation at start of employment (Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm).
No experience required. Comprehensive on-the-job training provided.
