Role Overview: This position involves managing inpatient flow, coordinating patient transfers, and ensuring timely bed placement by collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The role requires clinical screening of admission requests using established criteria, documenting transfer details, and monitoring the admission process to prevent delays. It also entails identifying capacity mismatches, facilitating effective communication, and participating in coverage systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Partnering with physicians and nurses to coordinate patient transfers and bed assignments based on acuity and availability.
- Assessing admission requests for medical necessity and appropriateness.
- Documenting communication and transfer plans in electronic medical records.
- Monitoring and optimizing inpatient bed utilization, addressing capacity issues, and ensuring quality standards.
- Serving as a resource for hospital personnel regarding bed availability and process improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (required).
- At least three years of RN experience.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and clinical assessment skills.
- Ability to work in a clinical environment with adherence to policies and procedures.
