CAD Technician

Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced CAD Technician. The applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and detail‑oriented, and interested in joining our Site/Civil department in the Danville, VA office. The role can be performed remotely. Applicants must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment, coordinate daily with key staff, and assist on multiple project designs. The position emphasizes design and plan set preparation for residential, multi‑family, and commercial projects, including grading, pipe networks, alignments, profiles, sections, and redline drafting for conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings.

• Provide drafting and design services by preparing and maintaining AutoCAD Civil 3D engineering drawings that compile to create a set of permit table plans.
• Prepare designs from general instruction and preliminary sketches, diagrams, or schematics.
• Prepare working drawings from conceptual, development, final engineering documents and construction record drawings.
• Coordinate with other team members including engineers, managers, administrative staff, and construction staff members.

• Minimum 6 years of experience with an emphasis in land development projects.
• Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to create surfaces, alignments, and profiles.
• Willingness to assist with a wide range of projects and work with multiple project managers.
• Strong interest in all phases of Civil Engineering including land development, utilities, water resources, and construction.
• High attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to ask for additional direction and assistance when needed.
