Position: Crisis Peer Recovery Specialist (4342)

Location:

Danville, VA. Salary: $42,217 - $73,880 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Provide person‑centered, wellness‑focused support to engage individuals in treatment and promote the use of their personal wellness recovery plans.
  • Share your lived recovery experience to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment, and support goal setting for wellness, recovery resilience, and self‑advocacy.
  • Work as part of the individual's treatment team, receive individual supervision, and collaborate with staff, hospitals, law enforcement, and community agencies.
  • Apply knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorder signs and symptoms to provide peer support, advocacy, and wellness rehabilitation.
  • Offer a range of services including outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, crisis intervention, family consultation, functional skills development, appropriate behavior coaching, and transportation as needed.
  • Participate in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and the broader community.
  • Document all contacts and activities in the individual's records.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be, or have previously been, a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services and be well along in recovery.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Preferred Requirements
  • Certification as an Action Planning for Prevention and Recovery (APPR) Facilitator.
  • Certification and registration as a Peer Recovery Specialist.
  • Some college education.

Fingerprints, state and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry (CANIS) report will be required upon request. Our Agency maintains a drug‑free workplace.

Shift Differential: $2.00 for 2nd shift; $3.00 for 3rd shift; 3% increase for Registered Peer Recovery Specialists.
