ResponsibilitiesProvides compassionate and effective mental health crisis intervention for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric distress and works in partnership with local law enforcement to deliver a co-response system of care for individuals in the community with a behavioral health crisis. The clinician assesses the immediate needs of the individual, ensures their safety, and connects them with appropriate resources and support. The clinician is responsible for collaborating with Crisis Services, law enforcement agencies, community partners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate a crisis intervention plan while upholding principles of respect, confidentiality, and empathy.
The clinician adheres to guidelines or regulations established by Virginia Statute and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, and works as part of a team to coordinate services and resources among providers as needed to help individuals served live and function optimally in the community.
- M1: Masters degree (60 credit hours or more) in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services that includes coursework for licensure by the Virginia Department of Health Professions as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner in Virginia
- M2: At least three years of experience providing behavioral health, crisis level services and/or services to individuals with serious mental illness
- M3: Experience providing mental health or substance use services to adults, children, adolescents, and their families
- M4: Documented crisis intervention experience within the past five years
- M5: Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and CANIS report will be required upon request. Our Agency maintains a drug‑free workplace.
Annual Salary Range$51,821 - $90,687
15% increase for licensure, 7% increase for resident/supervisee, Co-Response Differential: $3.00/hour.
