Job DutiesThe Director of Social Work Services is responsible for directing, integrating, and coordinating the clinical and administrative functions of the Social Work Department to include clinical social workers and part time transportation driver. The Director of Social Work will also be responsible for ensuring that all discharge protocols are followed consistently and according to policy to ensure a safe discharge for SVMHI individuals.
The Director of Social Work will be a champion of recovery based, trauma informed care interventions and actively engaged in program development.
- Master's of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited graduate school of social work.
- Previous social work experience in an adult inpatient mental health program.
- Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the Virginia Department of Health Professions and in good standing, which must be maintained throughout employment.
- Valid driver’s license is required and must remain active throughout employment.
This position will also require:
- Advanced knowledge of social work interventions.
- Advanced knowledge of mental illnesses, substance abuse/addiction and skills to provide treatment.
- Knowledge of community systems of care and services and the skills to access them.
- Basic knowledge of organizational functions and the ability to interpret and practice policies and procedures.
- Effective skills for both verbal and written communication.
- Leadership and management skills.
- Skills in planning and program evaluation.
- Knowledge of recovery principles, the ability to exemplify those principles in practice and through supervision of others.
- Knowledge of community services and ability to effectively interact with community agency personnel.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision for MSW Counselor II staff to become Licensed Clinical Social Workers.
- Management/supervisory experience.
- Veterans and people with National Service.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
