Location:
Reidsville, NC – $17.65/hour – 1st Shift – Full-time
- Understand and adhere to company policies, procedures, and emergency plans.
- Read and follow written operating procedures (in English) for processing chemicals.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from supervision, management, and engineering.
- Complete basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Don appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to identify chemical hazards.
- Safely handle solvents (e.g., methanol), acids (e.g., nitric acid), bases (e.g., 50% sodium hydroxide) and other hazardous chemicals.
- Complete monthly and annual computer‑based safety training on time.
- Report spills, leaks, injuries, mischarges, incidents, unsafe conditions to Supervisor/management immediately.
- Know and follow company emergency procedures, hot work, lock‑out/tag‑out, confined space protocols.
- Protect environment to prevent ground, water, and air pollution.
- Perform operational duties of a Reactor Operator (RO): run chemical reactions in vertical/horizontal reactors under pressure or vacuum with minimal or no supervision; heat/cool reactors using steam, cooling tower water, hot oil, chilled water/glycol; record data for environmental/regulatory compliance.
- Operate reactors during trials, work with production/technical team on new process development.
- Assist supervisor with daily area walks, tank farm evaluation.
- Assist in equipment set‑up, changeover from process to process.
- Train operators on reactor operation for existing and new processes.
- Perform or assist with basic maintenance (minor leak repair).
- Troubleshoot operational issues, distinguish mechanical vs process, notify appropriate personnel.
- Participate in Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA).
- Assist with receiving/shipping of bulk and packaged materials; understand product identification and bill of lading.
- Inspect and operate a fork truck per company procedures; transport materials to staging, waste pad, warehouse etc.
- Minimum 6 months experience as Reactor Operator (RO) or 4 years experience in a manufacturing facility.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
