Plant Safety Coordinator

Location: Danville, VA
Duration: 3-12 Months (Start: ASAP)
Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $53/hr
Per Diem: None (Local Candidates Only)
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:00/5:00 PM | 40-50 Hours/Week
Additional Schedule Details: Consistent first-shift schedule supporting active manufacturing and plant operations.

This opportunity provides hands‑on safety oversight focused on OSHA General Industry compliance, employee and contractor safety, hazard recognition, and operational risk reduction.

The Plant Safety Coordinator will work directly with plant leadership, employees, contractors, and the EHS Manager to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, automotive, chemical, warehousing, or similar General Industry environments
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations
  • Experience conducting inspections, hazard assessments, safety observations, and incident investigations
  • Experience supporting contractor safety programs and safety documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 511 Certification
  • ASP, OHST, CHST, or other recognized safety credentials
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • LOTO Training
  • Confined Space Training
  • Incident Investigation / Root Cause Analysis Training
  • Powered Industrial Truck or Forklift Safety Training
  • Automotive or Manufacturing Industry Experience
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide daily onsite safety oversight throughout manufacturing and plant operations
  • Monitor employee and contractor compliance with OSHA General Industry requirements
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, observations, and plant walkthroughs
  • Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs
  • Monitor machine guarding, PPE, Hazard Communication, and electrical safety requirements
  • Support confined space, hot work, and powered industrial truck safety programs
  • Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JSAs), risk assessments, and pre‑task safety planning
  • Participate in incident, injury, near‑miss, and hazard investigations
  • Track corrective actions through completion
  • Assist with employee and contractor safety orientations and training
  • Support the EHS Manager with audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout plant operations
