The Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) develops and implements training to ensure job skills and competency, provide education to the adult learner, orientation and onboarding of new staff. SDC is a key contributor to workplace culture, promoting and upholding our organizational values and work ethic.

- Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance workflow, and/or improve the work environment
- Work cooperatively with the Administrator and Director of Nursing in assessing educational needs and plan programs to meet identified needs and regulatory requirements
- Conduct interviews for nursing staff
- Collect drug screens pre-hire, post-accident, random as indicated
- Monitor certification and license status for renewals, complete online cna renewals
- Track and Administer TB, Hepatitis B, other vaccines
- Conduct new hire orientation, agency orientation as applicable
- Provide on-going education of staff to meet regulatory requirements, standards of practice and as identified for re-training
- Manage Relias Program to ensure staff access and timely completion
- Skills competencies of nursing department
- Observe monthly Hand washing, mechanical lift and transfer tasks
- Oversee hall as assigned by Director of Nursing to ensure quality resident care, documentation, communication with and notification of provider and family
- Med pass observations of licensed nurses (medication aides as applicable)
- Audits as assigned by Director of Nursing or administrator
- Other duties not specifically listed herein as assigned by DON or Administrator
This position directly supervises all Nursing staff including but not limited to R.N’s, L.P.N’s and C.N.A’s.
RequiredEducation and Experience:
- Registered Nurse in NC.
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience in a health care setting; long-term care setting preferred.
- Must have a current/active CPR certification.
- Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives.
- Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
Education and Experience:
· 5 years R.N. experience.
· Previous experience managing a Nursing department.
